Opportunities for Law Students
Hamilton Law Office is committed to the education of future attorneys in the hopes they will someday join our fight against injustice. Our externs often receive class credit for their assistance with all aspects of our small Civil Rights and Criminal Defense practice. HLO student-externs usually have the chance to observe and participate in client and witness interviews, case investigations, depositions, trials, motion practice, jail visits, scene visits, and settlement conferences.
Our externs have the opportunity to assist with all aspects of the discovery process and will also be expected to conduct legal research and draft legal memorandum. If you are interested in applying for any externship with Hamilton Law Office, please email a resume and cover letter explaining why you would like to join our team to Ms. Hamilton at . HLO also has externship postings at each of the Chicago law schools.
"The Hamilton Law Office was a great place to start a legal career. I was exposed to every facet of each case that came into the office, while being surrounded by lawyers who were passionate about training the next generation of civil rights attorneys. Yet the most important part of my experience at Hamilton was feeling the passion for political liberty that pervades the office day in and day out."
"I have come away with an enhanced understanding of what it means to practice in civil rights litigation and strengthened practical legal skills. It was truly a joy working with you all and I'm proud to have contributed to such meaningful work."
